FAQ
I'm a complete beginner. Is this club right for me?
Absolutely. Maru recipes are designed for all skill levels — no culinary training required. You can start with the simplest recipes and work your way up at exactly the pace that feels comfortable. There's no timeline, no pressure, and no wrong way to begin.
Can you really learn to bake online?
Maru has been teaching pastry online since 2019, with more than 6,000 students. Learning from video works under one condition: the recipe has to be properly tested, and the filming has to show what actually matters. That is why every lesson here has exact gram weights and close-ups of texture rather than a pretty wide shot.
How is this different from free YouTube baking videos?
YouTube baking videos are hit or miss — approximate measurements, unbalanced ingredient ratios, and instructions that look great on screen but fall apart in your kitchen. The result: a ruined batch and wasted ingredients.
Every Maru recipe is tested repeatedly by professional chefs until it works consistently. Follow the process exactly, and it comes out beautifully the first time. That's the difference — and it's the whole reason this club exists.
Do I need special equipment?
No rare or expensive equipment. Most lessons need what a normal kitchen already has: a bowl, a whisk, a tin, an oven. Anything extra is listed at the start of the lesson and in the PDF recipe, so you know before you start mixing, not halfway through.
Specialty items like a ring of a particular size or a thermometer are sold in baking shops and online. If you cannot find something, ask in the club chat.
Will anyone look at what I made?
In the club chat members post their work and help each other out: what to fix in the texture, where to find a tool, what to substitute. It is a community chat, not a chef review.
Personal feedback on your own bake, from a pastry chef, is what Maru Expert courses are for — there a mentor looks at your specific result.
I live in a small town with limited grocery options. Can I still follow your recipes?
Yes. Most recipes are built from regular supermarket ingredients. Where something specific is needed, the lesson says what to replace it with and how that changes the taste.
What you will not find nearby — chocolate of a certain percentage, nut paste, gelatine of a given strength — can be ordered online. Members share the shops they trust in the club chat.
How do I cancel my subscription?
In your account settings, at any time and without explaining why. You keep access to the masterclasses until the end of the period you have paid for, after which the subscription simply does not renew.
What happens right after I pay?
Access to the whole library opens immediately — there is nothing to wait for. You get an email with your login and a link to the private club chat.
From there, open any lesson you like: there is no fixed order, so start with whatever you want to bake this weekend.
What is the club chat and how do I join?
It is a Telegram chat for paid members. The invite link arrives in the email you get after payment.
People post what they made, ask about texture and temperature, and share where to buy things. The answers come from other members — people who baked the same lesson before you.
How often do new masterclasses appear?
There is no fixed schedule: a lesson appears when the chef has tested and filmed the recipe, and that takes weeks rather than days. We would rather not promise "a lesson a week" and then miss it.
What matters: every new lesson is included in your existing subscription at no extra cost. The library you get today only grows.
How is the free plan different from the paid one?
The free plan opens three masterclasses with full videos and PDF recipes. No card required, and nobody will ask for one.
The paid plan opens the entire library, the private club chat and the bonus materials. The point of the free plan is exactly this: see how the lessons work before paying for them.
What language are the lessons in? Are there subtitles?
The lessons are recorded in Russian and come with subtitles — turn them on with the icon in the bottom right corner of the player.
PDF recipes are available in Russian and English, and the site and your account switch between languages.
